India batted first and scored the third highest ODI total of the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui cricket venue. With 325 runs target to the home team, India team position becomes so strong. When his wicket dismissed then it happened like this (25.2 taken! Good grab to the left by Latham. It’s a short and wide ball outside off. Thick edge and a tumbling take from the keeper 154/1).

RG Sharma smashed nine boundaries and three 6s in his beautiful innings, when his wicket fallen then his scores were 87 and it happened like this (29.3 taken at deep square! Short of a length ball sliding across him. Looks to drag it into the leg side with a pull but he can’t keep it down. It dips on CDG but he lunges forward and holds on 172/2). The captain of the team V Kohli contributed 43 runs, AT Rayudu 47, MS Dhoni † 48 off 33 not out and KM Jadhav 22 off 10 not out. India won by 90 runs
Rohit, Man of the Match: Good feeling (on his performance) but more importantly, we won the match. We didn’t know how the pitch will behave. The last time when SL and NZ played here, it was a high scoring game. When we got 324, we thought it was a par score and not a big score. Credit to our bowlers for doing a good job. (On his 14 century stands with Dhawan) We know each other since long and have a good understanding. Important for the team to get a good start and I have always enjoyed batting with Shikhar, I am sure it’s the same for him too. Lovely ground here and it was nice to see such a big crowd on an open ground.
