West Indies Vs Ireland Match 4th ODI Highlights – May 11, 2019

Watch Ire v WI cricket highlights videos today – 4th ODI Match, Ireland Tri-Nation Series from The Village, Malahide, Dublin (Ireland) Saturday, 11th May 2019.

Toss: Ireland won the toss and opt to bat

Ireland was mauled in the opening game of the tri-series. Their second game against Bangladesh was then washed out. With the Asian side also winning a game so far, it is highly impossible for Ireland to beat the odds and enter the final. But what they can do is at least come up with a much better performance in their second fixture against the West Indies to ensure they don’t crumble again. They might not be going to the World Cup, but making a statement just before the mega event against teams that will be a part of it should be on top of their agenda right now.

Imad Wasim captained in that game but Sarfraz is now back to take the reins; Haris Sohail and Yasir Shah are the other continuity candidates, with Abid Ali overlooked for now. The regular openers, Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq, should be reunited, while the choice to complete the bowling attack is between Amir and Yasir.

There is a change in venue and the Irish seamers will hope that it brings a change in fortunes. If the home side finds movement with the new ball early on, then the West Indies middle order could be put under some test, which the visitors won’t mind before the World Cup. Darren Bravo, Jonathan Carter and Jason Holder didn’t enjoy good outings against Bangladesh and will be eager to make amends this time. Ireland’s own batting lineup surrendered in a tame fashion. Only Kevin O’Brien and to an extent, Gary Wilson and Balbirnie looked assured in the middle. They will need a substantial contribution from the likes of William Porterfield and Paul Stirling.
